Food & drink discoveries

A desire to find and sample the best places to eat and drink in Sheffield led to the idea of Kelham Island Food Tours. The tours offer a unique way to experience the food and drink on offer in the area, go behind the scenes and meet the people behind the businesses.

On The Artisan Tour, everything you consume has been produced in the Kelham Island - Amazing!

Kelham Island Food Tours is passionately committed to providing tour goers with a fun and memorable experience, whilst championing the independent food businesses in the area and putting Sheffield on the map as a foodie destination.

Once a thriving industrial district, housing numerous cutlery and steel works, its recent regeneration into a hip, urban place to live and work has attracted a wealth of small indie food and drink producers and innovative places to eat and drink.

Our logo uses the combination of a fork and the iconic Bessemer Converter as a nod to the area’s heritage and it’s newly found status as one of the best places to eat and drink in Sheffield.

Coffee, cheese, chocolate, beer, gin, award winning restaurants and pubs and the largest food hall in the North… There is a lot to go at.

Scheduled Tour dates are available here and you can get in touch if you would like to discuss organising a private celebration or corporate event.

We release new tour details and new dates to our newsletter subscribers first and also offer them exclusive offers.

About Sophie - Founder and Operator

Kelham Island has a special place in my heart. My Great-Grandfather was a cutlery man, and in 1998 my late-dad introduced me to The Fat Cat and real ale. Kelham Island Brewery’s Pale Rider was the beer that introduced me to beer, and I have fond memories of Dad and I enjoying a pint in the cosy bar, that has thankfully stayed just the same.

I have worked in the hospitality industry for quite a few years and, after 20 years down south, returned home to Sheff nurturing an idea for a food tour.

I have an Advanced Certificate in Beer (it’s true) and a WSET in Wine & Spirits, but mainly I just love good quality food and drink, made with love and produced in an authentic and ethical way.

I hope that by creating Kelham Island Food Tours, I can provide people with an enjoyable and memorable experience, whilst helping to support the fantastic food and drink businesses and community, where independence and authenticity takes precedence.
