Food & drink experiences in Sheffield

A desire to find and sample the best places to eat and drink in Sheffield led to the idea of Kelham Island Food Tours.

The tours offer a unique way to experience the food and drink on offer in the area, go behind the scenes and meet the people behind the businesses.

We are passionately committed to providing guests with a fun and memorable experience, whilst championing the independent food businesses in the area and helping put Sheffield on the map as a foodie destination.

Once a thriving industrial district, housing numerous cutlery and steel works, its recent regeneration into a desirable place to live and work has attracted a wealth of small indie food and drink producers and innovative places to eat and drink.

Our logo uses the combination of a fork and the iconic Bessemer Converter as a nod to the area’s heritage and it’s newly found status as one of the best places to eat and drink in Sheffield.

Coffee, cheese, chocolate, beer, gin, award winning restaurants and pubs and the largest food hall in the North… There is a lot to go at.

About Sophie - Founder

Kelham Island has a special place in my heart. My Great-Grandfather was a cutlery man, and in 1998 my late-father introduced me to The Fat Cat and Kelham Island Brewery’s Pale Rider - the beer that introduced me to beer! I have fond memories of Dad and I enjoying a pint in the cosy bar, which thankfully hasn’t altered that much over the years.

I have worked in the hospitality industry for quite a few years and, after 20 years down south, returned home to Sheffield nurturing an idea for a food tour.

I have an Advanced Certificate in Beer (it’s true) and a WSET in Wine & Spirits, but mainly I just love good quality local food and drink that is produced in an authentic and ethical way.

I hope that by creating Kelham Island Food Tours, I can provide people with an enjoyable and memorable experience, whilst helping to support local food and drink businesses in Sheffield.
