Summer Food News

As always there’s lots going on in Kelham at the moment! The brilliantly named new pizza place B’Reyt Dough opens today at 92 Burton Road and Edo Sushi has just launched two dates for their sushi-making masterclasses. There’s also a new bar, Dirty Mirror set to open its doors in one of the old Kelham Island Brewery buildings.

On the food tours front, I have taken the step to go part-time in the day job so I have more time to dedicate to growing the food tours. There are now four of us working as tour guides! As well as myself, there is Amy and Ben who are long-term Kelham Island residents and founding members of KINCA, the very active residents association. Peter has been with KIFT a year now - a retired chef and avid local history fan, it’s great to know our guests are in such good hands. The KIFT team are meeting for a brainstorming session at Juke and Loe this month to share ideas about how we continue to showcase the best places to eat in Sheffield - if you have any feedback or ideas please feel free to share your thoughts here.

B’ Reyt Dough

Set up a few years ago by two best mates from South Yorkshire, B’Reyt Dough has been doing food festivals, weddings, and other events for a while. They have just taken on a bricks-and-mortar site and will be joining Factory Floor, Roku, and Depot Bakery in the 92 Burton Road Courtyard (the former Doner Summer site).

They will be serving Neopolitan-style pizza ( a personal favourite), which as the name suggests originates from Naples and is characterised by a thin, puffy, and blackened crust - delicious! They open the doors for the first time today and will be offering takeout too - check them out on Instagram here!

KIFT will be popping down this weekend for a slice and chat with the lads about coming on board…🍕🍕

Sushi Classes with EDO

The guys from Edo Sushi are masters of their craft and known around the UK for serving up the ‘best sushi in the North’. Tomo and his team have an outstanding reputation for the tastiest, freshest flavours and they have released 2 dates for sushi-making classes which will take place at their sister venue ROKU (92 Burton Road - former Sheffield Cheesemasters site).

The ultimate authentic Japanese sushi experience, learn the art of sushi making for yourself - the ticket includes tuition and all the tools and ingredients you will need for this one-and-a-half-hour class. All the sushi you make can then be taken home to enjoy! 🍣

Private Tour Review

"I can not emphasise enough how much we all enjoyed it...I just wanted to say a really big thank you for the tour. It was brilliant and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. They were all very surprised by what we’d organised and really impressed with all the venues, food and drink, plus Amy was a great host. Plenty of information, good fun whilst allowing us to have time to ourselves. We were all amazed by what the area has to offer and will definitely be visiting again"

Thanks, Claire, we loved hosting you on your special birthday! Interested in a private food tour for a special occasion or corporate event? Send us an enquiry here.
